Initial Ideas

This is a documentation of our and idea development.  We first started with a couple brain storms to get a general idea of what room we wanted to construct for the project. We also had to decide if we wanted to do the room in space on mars and what the purpose of our room would actually be.

The images attached are from my groups sketchbooks, these are all rough, basic ideas to help us get an idea of which direction to go with this project. We decided to go for a vegetation room based on mars. This is because we already know that the ground on mars has the correct nutrients to start growing on there. As well as the fact that  there is already research developing to see if people can become self-sufficient while in space.



We first started planning to have a futuristic looking room which would still be sleek and stylish. We thought about how rooms in space have already been designed in films such as 'Gravity' and 'Life' to help with inspiration and design elements. Hexagon shaped rooms went with our theme of the futuristic look however that shape limited the space we would actually have to design and grow plants in.
